Conversion of two terrace properties into boutique retail off Oxford Street
The project, steered via a complex approvals process through Woollahra Municipal Council, has recently been shop-fitted with two high-end retail tenancies.
We were pleased to maintain our association with these properties , which were originally converted to offices by us some years earlier.
The new owners retained our services for this subsequent conversion to retail use.
In conversion from Offices to Retail, the project fell within a different Use Class within the National Construction Code, meaning new assessment criteria and fire-ratings in particular were applicable. As part of the compliance process, we appointed Fire Engineering Consultants and co-ordinated their advice into the project documentation.
Outcome : The end result is a fabulous addition to this retail precinct known as “The Intersection” in a significant Heritage Area of Paddington. A major feature is a large glazed skylight to the MAC tenancy which provides a neutral separation between the masonry retail frontage and the original cast-iron balustrade & frieze.
